Large Tree
I hugged it, and not for
conservation purposes.
No desire to tie myself to the thing.
Just wanted to listen to lungs
expand as mine did
- in, out, in -
my foot resting on a gnarled
protrusion. So far down that death
cannot breathe, the large tree
sucked wet into itself.
Eight hundred years before I cried
this beast hugged earth
waiting for me.
